Update for the Rampart Reunion 2023

Cancellation of this Year’s LA2Lauglin Reunion

As many of you know, Steve Sena passed away recently. For the past several years, he was the Chair of the Committee for the LA2Laughlin (Rampart) Reunion. Just prior to his passing, Steve and the Committee were looking for an alternate hotel or site for the Reunion. Steve’s illness put those efforts on the back burner.

Several weeks ago, the Committee put out an email and a notice on the Rotator asking prior attendees their thoughts on:

· Proceeding with this year’s Reunion in Laughlin (which would require donations for attendees);

· Finding another hotel with easier access for retirees, possibly in Las Vegas;

· Or change the format to a one- or two-day local event like the popular Menudo Breakfast.

We received quite a few responses. The majority suggested changing the venue to Las Vegas or having a local event like the Menudo Breakfast.

The Committee met this week to discuss the path forward. Because of the short timeline, the Committee decided to CANCEL this year’s Reunion in Laughlin. The Committee will be looking at options for next year’s Reunion - possibly in Laughlin or near Las Vegas that have reasonable hotel fees and the possibility of having a local event in the LA area.

We want to thank everyone who responded to our initial request; we appreciate everyone’s input.
